Melinda Bothe
Senior Associate
Melinda represents global companies and individuals in criminal and regulatory litigation and investigations in a wide range of matters, including fraud, corruption, money laundering, and sanctions. Melinda’s representations have included clients across various sectors, including financial services, consumer goods, commodities, and agriculture. Melinda’s recent representations included advising clients through inquiries brought by the U.S. Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and Treasury. Melinda also regularly supports clients through complex internal investigations and advises on corporate compliance and risk management.
Before joining Jacobson Lopez, Melinda was a Litigation & Investigations associate in the U.S. and German offices of an international law firm.
Melinda earned her law degree from Duke University School of Law, where she interned with the Special Litigation Unit of the World Bank Group with a focus on fraud and corruption investigations. Melinda was an Executive Editor of the Journal of Comparative & International Law, a member of the Mock Trial Board, and a semi-finalist in the Kilpatrick Townsend Mock Trial Tournament. Before law school, Melinda served for three years in the U.S. Peace Corps in Tanzania.
